Ultrasound

An ultrasound can confirm your pregnancy.  It will allow you to see the baby in your womb and the beating heart if you are pregnant.

It is also important that you know if your pregnancy is viable.  Viable means that the baby is capable of developing under normal conditions.

Ultrasound may be able to rule out multiple pregnancy (twins) or a tubal (or ectopic) pregnancy. There's no way of knowing with a urine test if either of these has occurred. Approximately 1 out of 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage and only an ultrasound can detect if this may be a possibility in your case.
